In 2019, the Benzie Sunrise Rotary Club was recognized by the Benzie Area Chamber of Commerce with the Community Impact award. This award is given in recognition of a nonprofit organization’s efforts to have a “positive impact on our community.”
The Bike Benzie Tour is the major annual fund-raiser for the Benzie Sunrise Rotary Foundation, 501(c)(3) enabling it to support a wide range of programs that positively impact the Benzie County community. For example, since 2012, we have donated nearly $240,000 to area nonprofits and $72,000 in scholarships to local students.
Our primary mission is to improve the lives and futures if the youth of Benzie County. The Benzie Central Schools constitute a primary beneficiary of our work, with a Club program or event at virtually every grade level. In addition, we sponsor the Rotary Interact Club at the high school that participates in a variety of activities supporting the local community and embodying Rotary’s motto, "Service Above Self."
